PAHOA, Hawaii. Frustration, fear and unpredictable 2000 degree lava affect evacuees from volcanoes on the Big Island of Hawaii to an "imminent" eruption that could precipitate autogenous rocks and ashes in this tropical paradise.
Approximately 1,700 people were excluded from their homes for 10 days, while Kilauea Volcano was poured into a rural area about 35 kilometers from Hilo, the island's largest city.
At least 36 structures were destroyed by lava flows, including 26 houses. Poison gas columns kill trees and pastures that have not touched the lava. And now the volcano seems to be exploding, though the damage should only radiate about 12 miles from the crater and keep Hilo intact.
There is little consolation for the evacuees and their community every day, they see most of the lava flow from the volcano into the ocean, burning the dense jungle and covering the streets with the solidification of the rock more than 10 feet away. thick.
Listening audibly over several kilometers, you can hear the sound of lava and thunder on the earth's surface.
"Many people are scared," said Tiana Dunn, who helped organize a supply depot for evacuees in Pahoa. "People are always a bit sad and incredulous."
Scientists have identified 18 lava outbreaks in the Leilani Estates neighborhood since the last activity began on May 3 and the area was closed to the public.
